St. George’s Cathedral Grounds and Outbuildings Cultural Heritage Evaluation
The Cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Ontario required an evaluation of the parts of its property that are adjacent to the main Cathedral building. The Cathedral property is a National Historic Site as well as being municipally designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. The study scope included the landscaped grounds, the Church Hall and the Sexton’s Cottage, as well as late 19th century additions to the Cathedral. Bray Heritage was retained to provide research and site analysis to determine the cultural heritage significance of these components. The final report included a summary of the site’s historical and urban context as well as descriptions and heritage evaluations of each component. The report also contained recommendations for updating the designation by-law and for determining conservation and development opportunities.
